Today I announce the appointment of Ms Anthea Griffin as Australia’s next Consul-General in Bali, Indonesia.

Australia’s relationship with Indonesia is one of our most important. Leaders recently elevated the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to drive expanded strategic, economic and people-to-people cooperation. The network of Australian Consulates-General across the Indonesian archipelago will play an important role in this next phase of the relationship.

With around one million Australians travelling to the island annually, the Consulate-General is one of our busiest providers of consular services. Providing high quality assistance to Australians will remain a top priority for the post, as well as strengthening business, development, education and cultural connections in Bali and Western Nusa Tenggara.

Ms Griffin is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and was most recently Assistant Secretary, Overseas Operations and Services Branch.

I thank outgoing Consul-General Helena Studdert for her contributions to advancing Australia’s interests in Bali and the surrounding region since 2016.
