The Australian Government condemns the cowardly terrorist attacks this morning at three Christian churches in the Indonesian city of Surabaya that targeted innocent civilians, killing at least 10 and injuring more than 40 people.

We stand in solidarity with the Government of Indonesia against this barbaric attack on peaceful religious gatherings.

Australia also condemns the recent attacks at the Indonesian Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters in which six police officers lost their lives.

We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of those killed and injured.

Our two nations share a common commitment to mutual respect and diversity and we reject those who seek to spread division and hatred.

Australia remains committed to our close security partnership with Indonesia to combat terrorism, including cooperation between law enforcement and security agencies.
