DIPLOMATIC APPOINTMENT: AMBASSADOR TO THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF YUGOSLAVIA
I have today announced the appointment of Mr Noel Campbell as Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
Mr Campbell joined the then Department of Foreign Affairs in 1975 and subsequently served in Buenos Aires, Lima and Geneva. From 1989 to 1992 he was Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Washington. Mr Campbell has been Charge d'Affaires in Belgrade since his arrival there in May 1994. He was accredited as Ambassador to Romania in April 1992 and to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in December 1995.
Mr Campbell's appointment as Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia marks the normalisation of relations between Australia and all the former Yugoslav republics.
