Today I announcethe appointment of Ms Anthea Griffin as Australia's next Consul-General inBali, Indonesia.

Australia'srelationship with Indonesia is one of our most important. Leaders recentlyelevated the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to driveexpanded strategic, economic and people-to-people cooperation. The network ofAustralian Consulates-General across the Indonesian archipelago will play animportant role in this next phase of the relationship.

With around onemillion Australians travelling to the island annually, the Consulate-General isone of our busiest providers of consular services. Providing high qualityassistance to Australians will remain a top priority for the post, as well asstrengthening business, development, education and cultural connections in Baliand Western Nusa Tenggara.

Ms Griffin is asenior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)and was most recently Assistant Secretary, Overseas Operations and ServicesBranch.
