Andrew Liveris appointed to American Manufacturing Council

We welcome United States President-elect Donald Trump's announcement that Andrew Liveris will head the American Manufacturing Council, a private sector group that advises the President-elect of the United States and his economic team.

Mr Liveris is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dow Chemical, and a global business leader. It is outstanding to see such a qualified Australian as part of Mr Trump's team.

In addition to his work at Dow, Mr Liveris maintains a range of appointments across business, government, academic and non-profit sectors. In Australia he is a member of the Commonwealth Government's Industry Growth Centres Advisory Committee.

We are also pleased to announce that Mr Liveris has agreed to become a G'Day USA Champion - an initiative established by the Australian Government - that brings together prominent individuals with the reach, experience and profile to help promote Australia in the United States.

Mr Liveris will join G'Day Champions including Chief Executive of News Corp Mr Robert Thomson, Westfield Co-CEO Mr Peter Lowy, Australian actors Mr Hugh Jackman and Ms Rachel Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group Mr Greg Basser, Chairman of the American Australian Association the Hon John Olsen AO, former Chairman of the Tourism and Transport Forum the Hon Bruce Baird AM, and Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Recording Industry Australia Mr Dan Rosen.

As the premiere public, cultural and economic diplomacy initiative promoting Australia in the United States, G'Day USA is now in its 14th year. The 2017 program will continue to promote and highlight bilateral cooperation across foreign policy, defence, innovation, the arts and pursue a strong economic diplomacy agenda by promoting Australia as an important trade and investment partner.
