Australia-China Council Grants

I am pleased to announce the recipients of 34 new grants funded by the Australia-China Council (ACC).

The ACC Grants Program strengthens links between Australia and China by supporting collaboration across a range of sectors. Successful projects in 2017-18 include exchanges in arts and culture, education and economic diplomacy.

The quality and breadth of the projects in the 2017-18 round are a testament to the rich potential of our people-to-people engagement with China.

Successful ACC grants this year include:

  • Establishing collaboration between the two leading national centres for astronomical instrumentation, the Australian National University and the Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and Technology;
  • Supporting Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall in the establishment of the Australia-China Helicobacter Fellowship initiative;
  • The Australia-China Youth Dialogue, promoting deeper and broader relationships between key emerging leaders from Australia and China;
  • Showcasing Australia's innovative technological approaches to food quality and safety in a series of workshops at Changzhou University for Chinese industry; and
  • Exhibitions in China of Australian Indigenous bark paintings from Arnhem Land illustrating their sacred stories and iconography.

The Australian Government established the ACC in 1978. It has made a significant contribution to strengthening Australia's relationship with China.
