Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research launches 10-year strategy

  • Media release

Today I announce the launch of a 10-year strategy which will guide the work of the Australian Government's specialist agricultural research agency for development.

Over its 36-year history, the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) has sought to promote more productive and sustainable agricultural systems and practices. Its research partnerships across the Indo-Pacific region are reducing poverty, improving food security and helping to build sustainable economies.

ACIAR's new strategy document refines a high-level strategic direction which will guide the organisation's work, consistent with Australia's aid policy and the priorities outlined in the Foreign Policy White Paper released last November.

It reinforces ACIAR's crucial role in building a scientific platform for tackling some of the biggest issues facing our region.

ACIAR's work over the next 10 years will be vital to improving nutrition and supporting economic growth in many communities throughout our region.
