Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste
Today I announce the appointment of Ms Caitlin Wilson as Australia’s next Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
Timor-Leste and Australia are close neighbours, friends and partners. Australia is Timor-Leste’s largest security and development partner and we are equal stakeholders in a peaceful, stable and prosperous region.
Australia and Timor-Leste continue to work closely together to advance our shared interests, including the mutually beneficial and commercially viable development of the Greater Sunrise gas fields consistent with the 2018 Maritime Boundary Treaty.
Ms Wilson is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has previously served overseas as Deputy Head of Mission, Papua New Guinea; Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York; and with the OECD Delegation in Paris and the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
I thank former Ambassador William Costello and acting Ambassador John Feakes for their contributions to advancing Australia’s interests in Timor-Leste.
