Today I announce the appointment of Ms Kate Chamley as Australia’s next High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius.

Australia and Mauritius share a warm relationship underpinned by collaboration in the blue economy, maritime security, and on climate change.

Australia is proud to host the world’s second largest Mauritian diaspora and is a popular destination for Mauritian students.

As High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius, Ms Chamley will also be accredited to the Republics of Madagascar and Seychelles, and the Union of the Comoros.

Ms Chamley is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Special Adviser, Foreign Arrangements Taskforce.

She has previously served overseas in Kiribati and Pakistan.

I thank Acting High Commissioner Katie Lalor for her contributions to advancing Australia’s interests in the Republic of Mauritius.
