Australia-Korea Foundation 2018-19 grants

  • Media release

Today I announce the recipients of 29 new grants funded by the Australia-Korea Foundation (AKF). The AKF grants strengthen links between Australia and the Republic of Korea by supporting activities that promote mutual understanding and stronger relations.

Successful AKF grant proposals include:

  • A documentary featuring an all-Korean baseball team during four months of training and playing in the Australian Baseball League (Baseball Australia);
  • A program supporting former North Korean students to develop their English language skills (UTS:Insearch);
  • A collaborative cybersecurity workshop between the University of Western Australia, Sungkyunkwan University, Korea University, and Seoul Women's University
  • A project to enhance information exchange on Antarctic matters between Australia and the Republic of Korea; and
  • A data analytics project on making cities safer for women and children in Australia and the Republic of Korea.

The AKF was established by the Australian Government in 1992 to increase our business, academic, cultural and bilateral engagement with the Republic of Korea.

More information about the AKF, the grants program and the full list of successful grant recipients is available on the AKF website.
