High Commissioner to Tuvalu
Today I announce the appointment of Mr Brenton Garlick as Australia's next High Commissioner to Tuvalu.
Australia values our strong relationship with Tuvalu, underpinned by development and defence cooperation, people-to-people ties and our shared aspiration for a peaceful, prosperous and resilient Pacific region.
Tuvalu and Australia are working together to combat the effects of climate change, build resilient communities and protect the environment.
Mr Garlick is a Kamilaroi man from northern New South Wales, and most recently served as Assistant Director of the Solomon Islands Economic and Development Section of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has previously worked at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Studies (AIATSIS) and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission.
I thank former High Commissioner Robin McKenzie OAM for his contributions to advancing Australia's interests in Tuvalu since 2021.
