G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting

  • Media release

From 11 to 12 December, I will visit the United Kingdom to attend the G7 Foreign and Development Ministers’ Meeting in Liverpool.

This meeting will address critical issues including promoting global democratic values and open societies, gender equality, equitable vaccine access, and prosperity and security in the Indo-Pacific.

The meeting will bring together the G7 nations as well as additional invitees including Australia. For the first time, a number of countries from ASEAN will attend, reflecting the world’s increasing focus on the Indo-Pacific and the importance of ASEAN centrality.

In bilateral meetings with counterparts on the margins of the G7 meeting, I will discuss Australia’s commitment to address economic and security challenges in our region and globally, including our ongoing COVID-19 response.

My engagements in Liverpool will build upon my recent meetings in Athens, Brussels and Vienna, which underscored Australia’s enduring commitment to multilateralism, the rule of law, and the prosperity and security of the Indo-Pacific region.
