High Commissioner to Ghana
Today I announce the appointment of Ms Berenice Owen-Jones as Australia’s next High Commissioner to Ghana.
Ms Owen-Jones will also be accredited to Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.
Australia’s warm relationship with Ghana is underpinned by longstanding links through the Commonwealth and close people-to-people connections.
Australian investors further strengthen our bilateral ties and bring mutual economic benefits.
Ghana’s enduring democracy and stability makes it an important partner for Australia in Africa. Ghana plays an active role on the international stage including through its current membership on the United Nations Security Council.
Australia will continue to work closely with Ghana to promote stability and security across Africa.
Ms Owen-Jones has previously served overseas as Australia’s Ambassador to Morocco and has had postings in Paris.
In Canberra she served as Director, Diplomatic Academy and Director, Diplomatic Security Branch. She also was a strategic analyst at the Office of National Intelligence.
