Iran nuclear negotiations – framework agreement
The Australian government welcomes progress towards a comprehensive agreement over Iran's nuclear program, following the establishment of a framework agreement between permanent members of the Security Council and Germany (P5+1) and Iran.
This framework agreement is an important step towards a final agreement, which will address international concerns about Iran's nuclear program.
There remain many details that need to be addressed over coming few months and I encourage all parties to continue to engage constructively in these negotiations.
I look forward to visiting Iran on 18 April to discuss the nuclear issue and other important bilateral and regional issues with Foreign Minister Zarif and other Iranian leaders.
