Global Cyberspace Conference

Certainty and stability in cyberspace are critical to Australia's national security and today I will attend the Global Conference on Cyberspace in The Hague.

I will be delivering a keynote speech in the plenary session on international peace and security in cyberspace.

Australia will also join the new Global Forum on Cyber Expertise, which will be launched at the Conference. Cyber security and cybercrime are major security and economic challenges for the Asia Pacific. The Australian Government is committed to working with our partners to build regional capacity to tackle cyber threats.

The Government's comprehensive Cyber Security Review, which will be released mid- year, will address many of the opportunities and challenges to be discussed at this important Conference

I also look forward to engaging Australian and other internet stakeholders from government, business and civil society at the Conference on cyber issues relevant to Australia. The Conference will include representatives from over 100 countries.

While attending the conference I will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with my counterparts from The Netherlands, Canada, Serbia, Republic of Korea and Ukraine.

I will also attend a briefing with the Dutch Foreign Minister Mr Bert Koenders and Minister for Security and Justice Mr Ard van der Steur on the Malaysian Airlines MH17 tragedy.
