Today United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and I announce four new Fulbright Professional Scholarships in recognition of the strong and enduring ties between our two countries.

The Fulbright Australia-US Alliance Scholarsips are part of the 'First 100 years of Mateship campaign', marking a century of the Australia-US partnership. They are an investment in a relationship of vital importance to both countries and will further strengthen ties between our universities and scholars.

The Australian-American Fulbright Commission promotes education and cultural exchange between Australia and the United States. The Fulbright Program commenced in Australia in 1949, and has awarded over 5,000 scholarships for exchanges between Australia and the United States, creating a vibrant, dynamic, and interconnected network of alumni.

Every year Australians and Americans journey across the Pacific Ocean to further their academic pursuits in world-class institutions. These experiences build formidable expertise – and foster enduring relationships between our two countries.
