Australia signs the International Solar Alliance
TheAustralian Government has formally indicated its intention to join theInternational Solar Alliance, an important initiative to boost cooperation onnew technologies and provide new opportunities for Australia's world-leadingexpertise.
TheSolar Alliance, led by the Governments of India and France, aims to deepencooperation on solar research and development, financing mechanisms, anddiffusion of solar technology amongst countries in the tropics. It will helpbroaden energy access, as part of a mix of affordable and secure energysources, as nation's work to meet emissions targets under the Paris Agreement.
Duringa visit to India in April, the Prime Minister announced Australia would jointhe International Solar Alliance. On her visit to New Delhi this week theForeign Minister signed a framework agreement while participating in theAustralia-India Foreign Minister's Framework Dialogue.
