Ambassador to Croatia

TodayI announce the appointment of Ms Elizabeth Petrovic as Australia's next Ambassador to Croatia.

Australiaand Croatia enjoy a warm relationship, underpinned by strong people-to-peoplelinks. The large Croatian Australian community enriches Australian society andprovides an excellent foundation for business, academic and cultural exchangesbetween our two countries.

Asmembers of the United Nations and NATO, Australia and Croatia work closely aspartners in the promotion of international peace and security.

Australialooks forward to working with Croatia and other members of the European Unionas we progress towards an Australia-EU Free Trade Agreement, which will expandour trade and investment, and boost prosperity in our countries.

Ms Petrovic is a career officer with theDepartment of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). She has been the RegionalDirector (Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory) of theAustralian Passport Office since 2014. She has served overseas as Deputy Headof Mission, Australian Embassy, Dili with an earlier posting at the AustralianEmbassy, Ankara. Ms Petrovic has also served as Adviser to the Minister forForeign Affairs (2009-2010).

Ms Petrovic holds a Graduate Certificate inInternational Relations from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Artsfrom the Queensland University of Technology.

I thank outgoing Ambassador Ms Susan Cox OAM for hersignificant contribution since 2012 to advancing Australia's interests inCroatia.
