Advanced Welder Training Centre for Caboolture

Weare pleased to announce the Turnbull Government will establish an AdvancedWelder Training Centre in Caboolture to train and skill local weldingapprentices and workers from local businesses.

TheGovernment will collaborate with Weld Australia for the purchase of 10state-of-the-art welding simulators and an advanced technical trainingfacility, to train up to 200 qualified welders and transitionary workers eachyear to international welding certification standard ISO9606. This is theminimum requirement for working on rolling stock, defence and infrastructureprojects.

TheCentre will help make Caboolture a skills hub. Apprentices will receivevaluable and intense practical training, making them job-ready to takeadvantage of the opportunities of a stronger economy.

Thesystem's flexibility and mobility means it can be transported to companiesaround Longman for onsite training, saving small and medium-sized businessesmoney.

Combinedwith the Turnbull Government's new Skilling Australians Fund that is set tosupport 60,000 extra apprenticeships across Queensland if the Labor StateGovernment signs up, today's $750,000 funding announcement will ensure localbusinesses can grow and compete for contracts - locally, nationally andinternationally.

TheTurnbull Government is backing businesses across Caboolture and South EastQueensland with support through initiatives like this as well as tax relief formore than 12,200 small and medium-sized businesses.

The TurnbullGovernment's funding commitment includes:

  • $650,000enabling Weld Australia to purchase 10 state-of-the-art Augmented RealityWelding Simulators; and
  • $100,000to establish infrastructure and ensure local trainers have the skills andknowledge to deliver world-class training for new and existing industryworkers.
