Foreign Minister Bob Carr today announced that Myanmar President Thein Sein and opposition leader and Chairperson of the National League for Democracy, Aung San Suu Kyi have been invited to visit Australia.

Senator Carr said he extended the invitations on behalf of Prime Minister Julia Gillard to President Thein Sein and Aung San Suu Kyi at meetings today and yesterday, respectively.
